Hemophilia Solutions - Special Issue
Welcome to a special issue of Hemophilia Solutions, soon to be incorporated into the Wyeth Lifelines newsletter. In this issue, we'll preview our activities at the National Hemophilia Foundation's (NHF) annual meeting in Dallas, Texas (November 4 - 6, 2004), and update you on the introduction of a new infusion system for ReFactoŽ Antihemophilic Factor (Recombinant) - the ReFacto R2 Kit.
ReFacto R2 Kit
The ReFacto R2 Kit - the first needle-less reconstitution device for hemophilia with a pre-filled diluent syringe - received approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on September 10, 2004. Compared with the previous method for reconstituting ReFacto, the R2 kit provides a faster and simpler infusion process (R2 stands for Rapid Reconstitution).
If you are attending the NHF annual meeting, please stop by our booth for a demonstration of the ReFacto R2 Kit. Here's how it works:
- The R2 kit contains a syringe prefilled with diluent, a vial adapter, and a single-use vial of ReFacto containing either 250, 500, 1000, or 2000 IUs.
- The adapter is placed on the vial of ReFacto, and the adapter and prefilled syringe allow ReFacto to be reconstituted without the risk of needle exposure.
Wyeth will begin shipping the ReFacto R2 Kit to homecare companies and hemophilia treatment centers in the 4th quarter of 2004.
NHF Annual Meeting -- Preview Bob -- Live and In Person! Stop by the Wyeth booth (#400) and have your picture taken with Bob, a life-size version of the puppet used as a teaching tool in many hemophilia treatment centers around the country. Bob is part of the Wyeth Puppets as Teachers in Hemophilia (PATH) program, and is making his first appearance at the NHF Annual Meeting in Dallas.
The booth will also feature a theatrical play, projected with holograms, that tells the story of Bob's educational work in the hemophilia community. You won't want to miss this exciting show.

As with the intravenous administration of any protein product, adverse reactions may include headache, fever,
chills, flushing, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, or symptoms of allergic reactions. The remote possibility exists for
hypersensitivity to non-human mammalian proteins. Please see Prescribing Information.
We hope to see you in Dallas at the NHF Annual Meeting!
