Programs & Services

Wyeth is committed to providing members of the hemophilia community with helpful resources and programs. The programs described below were developed to enhance understanding about the prevention and treatment of hemophilia—and to provide support to the patients and families who come to you for care.

Programs & Services
For more information on how your patients may benefit from these programs, visit the consumer Programs & Services section.

Wyeth LifelinesTM
Wyeth Lifelines is an informational newsletter program for people with hemophilia and their family members. Each quarterly newsletter offers helpful tips and advice about living with hemophilia and information about special Wyeth programs.

Wyeth Factor Resource ProgramTM
The Wyeth Factor Resource Program was created to help patients with hemophilia avoid going without therapy due to financial or insurance considerations. Three distinct services, designed to work together, make up the program.

  • The Wyeth Insurance-Coverage Program is designed to help patients obtain ReFacto for hemophilia A or BeneFIX for hemophilia B during times when they are experiencing a temporary gap in insurance coverage, or because they have exceeded an annual or lifetime benefit maximum on their insurance.
  • The Patient Assistance Program provides a supply of Wyeth hemophilia product, at no cost, to hemophilia patients who are without insurance and who meet other eligibility criteria.
  • The Wyeth Reimbursement-Information Line provides answers to physicians' and patients' questions about reimbursement for Wyeth hemophilia products.

"Sharing a Brighter Tomorrow" Scholarship Program
Wyeth continues its commitment to providing education and assistance to people with hemophilia and their families through this scholarship program. Eligible students seeking financial assistance for higher education may apply to the program.

Wyeth Summer Camp Program
Wyeth is proud to be the founding sponsor of the only conference dedicated to sharing best practices for bleeding disorder summer camps—NACCHO, the North American Camping Conference of Hemophilia Organizations—conducted by the Hemophilia Association, Inc., in Arizona. The program offers young children a chance to have healthy, active summers.

First Step
First Step is a program that helps new parents and families connect with other parents and families to create a network to learn about bleeding disorders. First Step offers a context for parents to share their feelings, stories, and questions about children and family life.

Train the Trainer
Train the Trainer is an interactive program to prepare mentoring parents involved in First Step. The program teaches critical skills to all members of the First Step team. Train the Trainer, a program of the National Hemophilia Foundation, sharpens networking, relationship building, and leadership skills, as it builds the foundation for family-to-family support.

Twinning Program
Wyeth works to foster the growth of hemophilia care by creating partnerships between developing countries and developed countries through the Twinning Program. The program has two components. The medical Twinning program focuses on enhancing medical care in developing countries. The national member organizations (NMO) Twinning program focuses on strengthening the political capacity of the developing country's national hemophilia organization.

Wyeth Hemophilia Hotline
This toll-free hotline was created to provide you and your patients with one centralized resource to request information about our hemophilia products and services.

Indication
BeneFIX is indicated for the control and prevention of hemorrhagic episodes in patients with hemophilia B (congenital factor IX deficiency or Christmas disease), including control and prevention of bleeding in surgical settings. BeneFIX is not indicated for the treatment of other factor deficiencies (eg, factors II, VII, VIII and X) nor the treatment of hemophilia A patients with inhibitors to factor VIII, nor the reversal of coumarin-induced anticoagulation, nor the treatment of bleeding due to low levels of liver-dependent coagulation factors.

Important Safety Information
As with the intravenous administration of any protein product, common adverse reactions may include headache, fever, chills, flushing, nausea, vomiting, or tiredness.
BeneFIX may be contraindicated in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to hamster protein.
Allergic-type hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported for all factor IX products. Patients should be informed of the early symptoms and signs of hypersensitivity reactions. Patients should discontinue use of the product and contact their health care provider immediately and/or seek emergency care if any hypersensitivity reactions occur.

ReFacto is indicated for the control and prevention of hemorrhagic episodes and for surgical prophylaxis and for short-term routine prophylaxis to reduce the frequency of spontaneous bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A. The effect of regular routine prophylaxis on long-term morbidity and mortality is unknown.

Important Safety Information
As with the intravenous administration of any protein product, adverse reactions may include headache, fever, chills, flushing, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, or symptoms of allergic reactions.
The remote possibility exists for hypersensitivity to non-human mammalian proteins. Known hypersensitivity to mouse or hamster proteins may be a contraindication to the use of ReFacto.
